LHR Partner Corner: Humane Society of Loudoun County

The Humane Society of Loudoun County (HSLC) is a non-profit 501(c)3 animal welfare organization, founded in 1966 to help animals in and around Loudoun County. We are run solely by volunteers, who dedicate their time and share their passion for helping animals. As a foster-based organization we do not have a shelter or physical building. The cats and dogs in our adoption program are placed in volunteer foster homes or display condos at local Petvalu stores.

Each year HSLC helps thousands animals and their families through our various programs, including:

  • Animals saved and adopted through our Rescue/Foster/Adoption programs
  • Cats and kittens helped and rescued via our Community Cats/TNR program
  • Reduced spay/neuter costs for pets of Loudoun residents through our Spay/Neuter program
  • Families in need of pet food via the Loudoun Pet Pantry, our partnership with Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS) and Loudoun Hunger Relief, which provides approximately 17,000 pounds of pet food to families in need each year

As a 501(c)(3) Charity, all donations to HSLC are tax deductible. Our work is only possible because of donors and volunteers. We are not funded by county, state, or federal organizations. We follow the No Kill Philosophy, which includes a series of programs and services to reduce birthrates, increase placements, and keep animals with their responsible caretakers.
